Session 1: Climate Modeling & CMIP7 Planning
This session invites studies related to the core scientific areas of MERGE, including climate–vegetation interactions, past climate and ecosystem changes, emissions and aerosol–vegetation feedbacks, as well as other studies relevant to climate modeling. It also aims to highlight ongoing efforts and opportunities for community involvement in the planning of CMIP7, with particular attention to model development and experimental design.

Session 2: AI Integration in Climate and Earth System Science
This session highlights emerging opportunities to apply artificial intelligence and machine learning within MERGE. Contributions are encouraged that use AI to improve understanding of vegetation–climate feedbacks, reconstruct past climate and ecosystems, model land-use impacts, enhance statistical evaluation of models, or support CMIP7-related planning. The session welcomes interdisciplinary work bridging AI, climate science, and Earth system modeling.
