Deliang Chen new ISC Fellow – recognized for promoting the public impact of science

Deliang Chen

MERGE-member Deliang Chen, world leading climate researcher and Professor of Physical Meteorology at the University of Gothenburg, has been elected International Science Council Fellow. It is the highest honor awarded by the ISC to those championing science in and for society.

– I am deeply honored to be recognized by the ISC as a global voice for science. It is humbling to stand alongside such a remarkable group of individuals. I am eager to continue contributing to the unique role of science in advancing sustainable development within society, Deliang Chen says.

So far, only two scientists from Sweden have been appointed as ISC Fellows; Johan Rockström, Professor of Environmental Science at Stockholm University and Joint Director of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, and Dan Larhammar, Professor of Molecular Biology at Uppsala University.

In total, 100 new ISC Fellows were appointed in recognition of outstanding contributions to promoting science as a global public good. The new ISC Fellows include eminent social and natural scientists, engineers and thought leaders who have made impactful contributions to science and society.
