- MERGE is a strategic research environment coordinated by Lund University and was launched in 2010
- In 2017, MERGE involved more than 120 researchers, including senior scientists, young scientists and other contributing staff.
- The MERGE team includes five universities as well as the Swedish Metorological and Hydrological Institute
- The main research focus is regional and global climate/Earth System models, understanding key processes
and feedback of climate/Earth System’s with focus on climate-vegetation, improved global and regional climate change
projections and scenarios as well as risks of extreme events
