On 28-29 April the 2016 MERGE Spring Meeting will take place in Norrköping, focusing on CMIP6 and EC-Earth.
MERGE researchers have been actively contributing to EC-Earth developments ahead of CMIP6 experiments with EC-Earth. The coming months and years will see even more activity, as the model development is finalized and the experiments begin. At the Spring Meeting we will therefore focus on the design of the CMIP6 experiments that coincide with key MERGE research objectives, and provide an update on EC-Earth development and planned CMIP6 contributions. These include climate-carbon feedbacks (C4MIP), the climate impacts of land use and land cover change (LUMIP), climate projections and mitigation scenarios (ScenarioMIP), atmospheric chemistry and aerosols (AerChemMIP), and experiments addressing palaeoclimate forcings and feedbacks (PMIP).
Before the Spring Meeting, there will be a workshop with a practical focus on CMIP6 and EC-Earth on 27 April. For practical reasons this workshop is limited to a small number of participants who will work with CMIP6 experiments, including the postprocessing and analysis of results. It will be by invitation only.
